Bruce Douglas - Bass Trombone

Ray Wordsworth - Trombone

Bruce is one of the top bass trombonists in the country!

It was his school band and the boy’s brigade in his home town of Bangor N. Ireland that got him started and if you ever saw the Irish Guards Band around 1980, you probably heard Bruce in there somewhere.

But it was after he left the Guards that his career really took off. As a freelancer, he was much in demand and has played with all the great bands, including, the Matthew Herbert Big Band, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra and the Joe Loss Orchestra.-

He is also popular with touring artists … including stars like Jack Jones, Al Martino, Frankie Vaughan and Rosemary Squires. One of his prized experiences was sharing the stage with the American jazz trombonists Bill Watrous, Urbie Green and Jiggs Wigham.

Bruce regularly works in London’s West End and has featured in many hit musicals including Guys and Dolls, The Lion King, The Rat Pack, Crazy for You, Wicked, Saturday Night Fever, The Full Monty, The Lord Of The Rings and Les Miserables.

Ray McVay, who always looks for the BEST, sought Bruce out to play with the Glenn Miller Orchestra back in 2001. He’s played with the Orchestra on tours of Argentina, Spain and Portugal as well as around the UK and Ireland.
