Colin Anthony

Colin has covered most aspects of
the singing business.
After settling in London from the West Country, where he had his own 'rock'
band that travelled all over Britain as well as West Germany (they had two albums
plus singles released). Working in this way with many of the 'middle of the
road' dance bands proved to be a great apprenticeship for what was to come later!
He studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music.
Next came appearances on Television which prompted the BBC Radio Network to
engage him on daily shows, such as: Dave Lee Travis, David Hamilton, Gloria
Hunniford, as well as many of the night time programmes. During this time he
made his acting debut on the London stage in a musical, Rock-A-Bye-Beckett,
playing and singing the lead part of Tom Beckett, the 'fallen rock idol'. He
then went on to BBC Radio, performing on shows like Big Band Special and Night
Owls (for which he formed his own band, performing mainly his own material).
He also co-writes with Shadows keyboard player Cliff Hall.
All through this time there were periodically 'singles' released - seven in
all! Although never entering the British charts he became very well known through
TV and Radio at home and abroad, doing, amongst other things a series of 'NORDRING'
concerts for the BBC in Norway, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and
Germany. And there are still more to come! He is also known in Greece, Italy,
Spain and Malta for his 'live' appearances. He still finds time to record advertising
'jingles' for radio and television. Two albums, which he also co-produced: 'EMPTY
SPACES' and 'LIVE COLIN ANTHONY' feature his own songs and are on sale in Britain.
His latest album CD has just been released "THIS IS ALL I ASK", featuring
mainly jazz standards and backed by some of Britain's best jazz musicians, this
will be available at all venues where Colin is appearing live.
Recently he has been 'up and down the country' performing the works of Gershwin.
On this, and many other 'one night stands' he is backed up by some of the top
big bands around, mainly performing with the GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA UK. With
favourite singers being Sinatra, Bennett, Torme, plus Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond
and Donny Hathaway, his live and recording appearances are a real musical experience!
