I knew Debbie before she signed with Glenn Miller. Then we lost track till I moved to Florida. We were planning to get together at her place. I called on the 15th of February to confirm and a lady answered and told me Debbie had died of a heart attack. At first I didn't believe her.Debbie never mentioned any of her health problems but was more concerned with my bad back, etc. Would love to hear from her daughters so I could share a letter that Debbie sent me as well as fond memories. I just saw the show last night at the Festival Theatre and had a fantastic time. I probably was the youngest there but a huge fan of the music.

Jazz vocalist Debbie Lang dies Friday, February 1, 2008 As a jazz vocalist with the revived Glenn Miller Orchestra, Debbie Lang sang "Over the Rainbow" at John F. Kennedy's inaugural ball. Forty years later, she was performing daily at a tiny Gulf station in Bedford, N.Y., that she inherited from her Aunt Dolly. Ms. Lang, formerly of Glen Rock and Hawthorne, died last Friday in Weeki Wachee, Fla., where she resided when she wasn't on her beloved houseboat in Margate. She was 67. The cause was a heart attack, said her daughter, Patricia Ciavolella Burgos of Wanaque. "President Kennedy's ball was one of her best memories," Burgos said. "But her dream was to live on a houseboat. We'd sit there together, overlooking Atlantic City, and she'd look over to me and say, 'Thank you, God, this is just unbelievable.' "

Very sad to hear this news. If you read down a few messages, you can see that Debbie left us a message here on 12th January informing us of Doc Winters' illness. There is an obituary here: http://legacy.suntimes.com/PressOfAtlanticCity/Obituaries.asp?Page=Notice&PersonID=102275859 |

Debbie Lang passed away 2 weeks ago in her home town in Florida. I have only know her for a few years and will miss her friendly conversations about her love for music and her recent doctorate.

We`ve just come home from your brilliant concert in Newport. We took my grandmother for her 92nd birthday, it was the first time for all of us but it won`t be the last. My 13yr son said it was "awesome!!!!!!!!!" and Gran remembered smooching to Moonlight Serenade. My husband particularly enjoyed Colin Anthony, describing him as world class. Thank You all for a memorable afternoon!!!

It is so nice to hear that you are keeping up Glenn's work! It is wonderful.I am probably the youngest one alive from the GM orchestra and I am still in touch with Harold (Doc) Winter who is in AC,NJ and quite ill. (he was Drum Major of the GM Marching Band in WW11. Keep up the great music and let me know where you are playing. Debbie Lang. Doc Winter is in the Atlantic City Medical Center if anyone wants to send him a card.

Thankyou for an absolutely wonderful evening my father and myself had when we saw you at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall. Although very sad not to see Joan Regan as she recovers from an operation what a delight to see Rosemary Squires. An absolutely fantastic evening. Thankyou.
